Dear Members,

The next few months promise to be full of action for the Chamber.
Following the successful seminar on the 17th April on the current financial crisis, honoured by our guest Mr Ginefra, Asia Chief Representative of the Central Bank of Italy, some important initiatives are now in the pipeline, notably an food and beverage delegation from Veneto and Abruzzo between 2nd and 4th of June, and a business delegation from Milan, looking for prospective partners here and in Malaysia.

In collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute, a charity concert by the Fiati Italiani, an ensemble from Chieti, will take place on the 4th June at the Arts House to help raise funds and awareness about the Abruzzo Region following the terrible earthquake that devastated it last month.

On a more general note, a few strategic initiatives are being taken to further increase the visibility and activities of the Chamber. First of all, efforts are made to develop a strong network in three directions: in Italy, through partnerships with Chambers of Commerce, Regions, and various associations; in Singapore, through its various economic and trade institutions; in Asia, through the existing and emerging Italian Chambers, Euro Chambers and other Bilateral bodies. This network is of critical importance to our Chamber if it wants to keep its relevance with the needs of its members and with the role that Singapore as a regional hub plays in Asia. Secondly, a few fresh initiatives are also being launched to communicate more and better, such as a Chamber’s magazine at the end of the year, the launch of a membership card providing members with certain privileges, a new interactive website, just to mention a few. Finally, the Chamber takes particular pride in announcing the launch of a business award to recognize the best practices or most prominent achievements of Italian companies in Singapore. This award will be handed out during the annual Christmas gala dinner. Thanks to our recently launched e-newsletter we will keep you updated regularly on these and other upcoming events.

I'm looking forward to meeting you at our events.

Best regards,

Andrea Bonardi
President
